A one-day trip took us to Gundagai where we saw the new sculpture honouring the Wiradjuri heroes Yarri and Jacky Jacky, who risked their lives to rescue an estimated 89 residents in theGreat Flood of 1852, at a time when there was tension between the European settlers and the indigenous people. Continuing on it was a lunch at the revamped Sir George at Jugiong. Jugkiong, which had deteriorated to a rundown village has been transformed and is now a boutique place where people flock from nearby areas such as Canberra.
